Cutting Board Care

PS: This also applies to charcuterie boards.

Remember, wood is a living, breathing material and it demands the same level of care. Neglecting proper maintenance can lead to your board drying out or even splitting. Think of your butcher board as a lifelong investment. To ensure it stays beautiful and functional for years to come, just follow these easy steps outlined below.

Hardwood Charcuterie/Cutting Board Maintenance

Washing your Board

It is recommended (and encouraged) that you wash your board with warm water and soap after each use using a lint-free cloth. Do not submerge the board, but it is important to wash every side and face so that the wood reacts to the moisture from the water equally. Rinse well and let it fully dry.

Please, I beg of you never to put your hardwood board in the dishwasher.
You're better than that.

Applying Oil/Wax

After it is fully dry, apply your oil (food-grade mineral oil type only) or board wax to every side of your board. Applying a "healthy" amount, leave over 24 hours..

The Buff

It's now the next morning and your board is as hydrated as the tall glass of water you are.

Using a microfiber cloth, you can now buff the excess oil or wax in circular motion, making Mr. Miyagi proud.

Heirloom Quality

If you continue to maintain your board properly, it'll be a kitchen tool that will last you decades.

If your board does start to warp or has long cracks, please disgard and add a new board to your wishlist!
