"au pied d'une roche"

First piece for the "au board de l'eau" collection

It's taken me a hot minute to complete this one throughout the whirlwind of summer, but I'm so happy to say she's done!

Inspired by the village I was raised in: Petit-Rocher, New-Brunswick, I wanted to stick to a more rustic/nautical theme. Coming from a fisherman town, it would've been a disservice not to make the first piece a boat.

If you're into big catches, just wait and see what the next piece is. (Spoiler: she's an intarsia piece)

The boat and rope border are hand-painted by yours truly. Shaped with @kutzall bits. The backer was milled, jointed and biscuit-joined together with cedar. The navy stain is by @saman_stain

"havre du homard"

Introducing my second piece of the "au board de l'eau" collection.

"Havre du homard", translating to "Lobster haven" is an intarsia wood art piece that pays homage to the maritime heritage of New-Brunswick, specifically drawing inspiration from the hardworking lobster fishermen of the small coastal village I'm from, Petit-Rocher.

Handcrafted from exotic zebrawood and locally sourced dark-walnut, each piece showcases the lobsters unique features, from the distinctive claws to the intricate patterns on their shells. The wood's natural textures and hues bring out the lobster's essence, reminiscent of their habitat in the cool, clear waters of the Atlantic.

This wood art piece is a heartfelt ode to the lobster's significance in New Brunswick's culture and economy. Lobster fishing isn't just a profession; it's a way of life. This piece pays tribute to the dedication of the lobster fishermen who venture out to sea to bring back the finest catch, embodying the essence of the maritime spirit as I hoped to encapsulate the beauty and importance of lobsters in the heart of our coastal community.

Thank you again for all of the support on this collection so far. My maritimer heart is full and I cannot wait to share more about the creative process over the next week as I prepare my next release:
