Inspired by one of my favorite poems, The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe, this piece has been on my mind for quite some time, and I’m excited to finally bring it to life. The poem's haunting beauty and timeless depth moved me to create something that could reflect both the words and the feeling they evoke.
The entire poem is laser-engraved on the wooden backer, with a scroll saw raven perched above, creating a layered, 3D effect. The raven is mounted on four standoffs, giving the piece depth and dimension. I chose stained poplar and ash wood for the frame, with its natural grain adding a soft, earthy contrast to the darker tones of the raven.
I created this with literature lovers and those who appreciate handcrafted art in mind, hoping it brings the same inspiration and reflection into your space as it did to mine.
